When Salome Jackson found out her school would be learning about Mexican culture in observance of the country’s Independence Day, she knew just the outfit to wear to mark the occasion.
“I got my Mexican dress from my grandma, and we’ve had this sombrero in our family for a long time,” said the 10-year-old fifth-grader at Harding Elementary School in El Centro.
